Don't get me wrong i love the competition's that indaba run, they are great fun, but................they are mainly geared toward's artist's that can play an instrument, unlike myself,......................how about having a competition for a vocal performance only........................just an idea, nothing more, nothing less.

Take A Look Around You

Friday October 26, 2007 at 08:46 AM

A session that i started , but has no intererst as yet so i've decided to post it up on youtube with a montage of pictures as it is.

Probably does'nt sound great in it's present form, but hey... it's not about my artistic abilities, it's about kid's....clean drinking water and ..........LIFE.

Here's the address http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4x9tg0N-MNg

If you can take a look at it and give it a rating aswell ( THE HIGHER THE BETTER, THE MORE EXSPOSURE IT GET'S , THE MORE EXPOSURE THE KID'S GET TOO ) then that would be great.

Post the address to your contact's if you can........leave it as your away message for a while on MSN  , Anything that would get as many people as possible to see it.

Thank's for your time and hopefully the indaba music community will have made a difference today.

Regards David A

Take A Look Around You

Hopefully a song to be devoloped into something completly different from what it is now. i've been watching christian tv now and again whilst flicking through the channels, as you do, I came across this program hosted by a husband and wife couple talking about water for life in poor country's around the world, digging wells laying pipes and such thing's so that every child could have a cup of clean water to drink. i wrote this song in response to watching it. I dont play any instruments so i used one of those song kit things. i would like it done with just a piano ( or maybe 1 or 2 other instruments or whatever it needs ) and perhaps toned down and reworked so that it had a more gracefull sound so that it does'nt sound like a power ballad like it does now. i don't mind how the original is changed so long as it suits the mood it was intended for or what's added to it, lyrics new structure, more verses, middle 8's, gentle guitar breaks, whatever. i think theres a halve decent song here but i need the expertise of you guy's to make it happen. i'm really not interested in remaining as the vocal on this track so if anyone else is game ( preferably a female vocal ) that would be great. my original intension was to hopefully approach the program with a good enough song that they could use in conjunction with one of there video's in order to convey the plight of these kid's who are simply dying all over the world because they don't have the simple bare thing in life that we all take for granted....a cup of clean water. Hopefully if the program did take on the song and run it with a video, they could then offer it up to viewers as a download from itunes or something like that to raise money for the course. Think of this mix that i've uploaded as just an idea, nothing more nothing less. i know that one of you out there knows what's needed to start this project off in the right way. Regards David A
The Begining

Friday August 03, 2007 at 02:11 AM

My interest in music first started at the age of 10. my brother who at the time was 20 yrs old was a singer in a band and i saw him one night playing a gig. The next day i got a group of my mates together and we went around all the class rooms air guitaring some of my brothers song's, it was from that moment that i knew i wanted to be a singer in a band. Well time went by, i finished school, got a job, married with a couple of kid's at 24yrs of age and still had'nt done anything. A few years later i heard of a rock weekend going on at my local community centre where you could just come along and jam with session musians, it was there that i was told by the people running the weekend that i could actually sing and should move forward with it. Well guess what..........once again i did nothing. Time went by again and it was'nt untill my late 30's that i discovered the internet and came across a site called digital sound planet, a collaborating site like this one. That's when i Discovered the awsome talent of Brad Preston, a piano player and songwriter. We seemed to click with eachother right away and wrote many song's together over the internet, Brad lives in the U.S.A and i'm in the U.K . After a while digitalsoundplanet stopped and brad and myself kinda went our own separate way's. I stopped writing altogether then until i heard of a class that was teaching songwriting, anyway i went to the class and wrote a couple of song's. It only lasted about 6 weeks, 2 hour's a week and then finished. Here i was again..................doing nothing until i got a phone call from the teacher of the class saying that he liked my songwriting and asked if i would like to join him on a project to write a new musical. We worked on the musical for about 2 years, wrote about 30 song's and entered it into a competition. We got down to the last 60 from over 600 worldwide entries from amateurs and professinals. After that as with everything else we've kinda gone our seperate way's again. And now at the age of 46 we have indaba..............................Stay tuned?
