ARTIST OVERVIEW:
Diziplez of Stone is an independent black consciousness rap/ hip-hop recording & performing quartret backed by a live band. The group consist out of Yunique, Miztah Naztaljah (who formed the group in 1998), D.J. Ice & D.J. Jai Be. Diziplez of Stone is known for their high impact & energetic stage performances & unique stage productions. Diziplez of Stone is unique in the sense due to the rhyme style combination of Yunique & Miztah Naztaljah, which compliments each other and backed by the scratch phenomena of D.j.Jai Be & D.J. Ice. They can be defined as a mixture of petroleum & fire. Diziplez of Stone experiment with a variety of musical styles/ genre’s e.g. Jazz, Funk, Old School, Drum ‘n Bass, Ragga, Rock, West Coast, Classical, Opera & African indigenous sounds
ACHIEVEMENTS:
Won the "Ek sê mamela! It’s our music." competition in 2001 hosted by MIDI TRUST;
Received a Medal of appreciation for the performance at 16th of June 2000 hosted by Koinonia Community Centre (New Oleans High School sports field);
Performed at the African Hip Hop Indaba 2002 hosted by Black Noise at Beach Road studios, S.A.B.C.;
Features in a documentary that was broadcasted in Belgium in 2005/ 6;
"Siyeza", a song from Bhind Enah-me Linez reached nr.2 on MtaaFM, a Philadelphia Internet Radio Station;
The song “Swaar Raak” featuring Panaikz & Ferdy Ferd is on MtaaFM’s African Syndicate Compilation that was launched in Philly;
Yunique is hosting a hip-hop TV. Show entitled "Word on da street" broadcasted on Shared the stage & worked with well-known performing- and recording artists, e.g. Mizchif (who managed them in 2005- 2006 under his label Moshin Sykkness Entertainment), Black Pearl (the late Devious Sister), D- Form (lead rapper from Moodphase 5), Isaac Mutant, Black Noise, Jaak a.k.a. Jake –Shun (features in the Konfab music video), Panaikz, Kamali, Mfanekiso, Xhosa Klan, Slu Dem Crew, Terror MC & the Terror Squad, Xpugate, Afro Z, Mafikizola, Blac Shuga, Junior B, Zim, D.J. Jai Be, Plain Madness, Mdakanayza, Ancient Men (producer Hipe from Unreleased Records was a member from the group);
Member of the South African Music Rights Organisation (S.A.M.R.O.)
The group had a opportunity to perform alongside Lauren Hill, The Roots, Talib Kweli, Headrush, etc. as well as a Amsterdam tour alongside Cypress Hill;
Performed at a variety of Festivals, Symphony of Lights, Carnivals, Showcases, House Parties, Street Bashes, etc. in the Western Cape in South Africa & abroad.
