wow..it's almost been a year

Friday September 25, 2009 at 10:51 AM

I think it's almost been a year now since I have joined Indaba....I still feel pretty much the same as when I first joined.   I think the talent here is far and above a lot of other sites.   I am always quite impressed at most of the music I come across here.   I have met some very cool people, and have stepped out of my comfort zone musically because of the variations of the featured programs.   I also think it has definitely taught me a thing or two, and has therefore improved my music and editing.  Although I don't get to spend as much timer here as I would like, there are a ton of things to get involved in.. So...I was just pondering that this morning, and thought I would post it...thanks for a great site...

Rivers Cuomo remix

Wednesday August 12, 2009 at 02:54 PM

It's been a while...I have been pretty busy, so I am just now getting used to the new Indaba....not sure yet...still feelin my way around...I did join the Rivers Cuomo contest, and I have my entry now up....I used the vocals and composed the rest...after listening to the acapella, and being a Weezer fan, I kept to the same genre pretty much....if you feel like leaving me a comment or feedback if you think the mix needs a little something, I'm happy with it, but some fresh ears are always good....    http://www.indabamusic.com/submissions/show/8413

Instinct Trilogy

Wednesday June 03, 2009 at 11:55 PM

I finished my Music Instinct theme....I have fallen hard for Christiane Karam's voice...it's really beautiful...As I listened to the stems it just came together in a really pretty song..I used 5 of the stems as I wanted to incorporate as many as possible, yet blend it together almost seemlessly.  I think I may have been influenced by E.S Posthumus and tracks like Nara more than I anticipated, as my entry reminds me of a similar musical style...anyway...hope you enjoy it..I've thought to add more strings, but I'm liking the simple clean style and don't want to clutter it any...I might give it a shot...we'll see..  http://www.indabamusic.com/submissions/show/7659

Building a catalog of Indaba artists' music for licensing...

Wednesday March 04, 2009 at 02:51 PM

I posted this in the forum...but Michael V suggested I blog it too...(thanks Michael)..It would be a great idea with all the talent here to build a catalog for licensing opportunities. I'm imagining Indaba's music contacts are extensive in the industry. The catalog would contain various genre's..etc. You could make it where the Indaba members would submit and be approved after passing some reviewing from Indaba...to make sure the quality of the music is industry standard, no samples, except royalty free, etc...

Indaba gets a percentage of the licensing fee...it's just an idea if you think we have really talented people here, the opportunities do exist for this market..

I've had several opportunities at licensing for tv and film, and the pay is not too bad, and it's always a good opportunity.

Just something to think about....Do1
