Creative Commons licenses = Web 2.0

Friday September 26, 2008 at 07:37 PM

Not sure how many of you are familiar with either concept, but CC+ licenses enable artists regardless of field, i.e., music, visual arts, etc., to share their work with people online. The catch of this license is that the works are protected under the CC+ license, protecting your tracks in a very sharing way. It's like writing your name on the bottom of your favorite Transformer as a kid, and letting someone borrow it.

Web 2.0 refers to a movement we're all a part of, and it's happening right now. Google "Gerd Leonhard" for more info on Web 2.0.

Lastly, I have decided to post tracks under the CC+ license on http://www.tribeofnoise.com/Gejius. TribeOfNoise.com is a start-up with a lot of room for aesthetic improvement. But what they lack in looks, they make up in ideas and actions. Give it a shot. It's certainly no Indaba, but it's definitely more in the vein of music exploration like Muxtape (LIVE!!! (pounds chest) LIVE DAMMIT!!!!!!), Seeqpod, Grabb.it, etc. But check it out and see if CC+ licenses are something to consider for your music.
