In the year and one month I have been doing what I call the LBML I have a had some dissapointments, some failures and some exceptional evenings of great performances. In January we celebrated the one year anaversary with Experimental Music, later in the month I had an instrumental power trio playing all orginals and last monday I was treated to an outstanding performance by Tsk Tsk. For those of you who missed it I will be letting them back one stage whenever they want, be sure to keep an eye out for them.
And finaly I was contacted by Kyle(Not Robot Not Human) with a request to promote a night of experimental music. I decided to let NRNH have the fourth Monday of the month. In our conversation Kyle mentioned bringing music that is rarely heard to wider audience, I agree. Music or sound can be much more than Mustang Sally or Social D, Some music needs to take a break it's tired.
In the year I did sound for bands I saw 20 diffrent Rock a billy bands and 20 competent covers of Jakson, We all know Johnny and June sang more than that one song, expand you catalog.
Sorry I got off on a tangent.
Back to Kyle, I am gald to have some one to help me divide the month up by 1/4th. Kyle is now booking the fourth Monday of every month at the Puka. If you know of any acts that are not the norm, build their own instruments, involve video, sound and strange electronic gizmos please get in touch with NRNH or myself. I welcome Kyle and wish him success in expanding everyones musical horizons. We all could use a little perspective shift.
As for the Rockabilly bands I enjoyed and appreciated your musical chops and ohmage to all of the greats, but when all of the bands are doing the same songs is looses something.
Hell Johnny Cash had like 40 albums theres gotta be something else you can do.
New Orginal Ecclectic Sonic Experimental Textural Diffrent Dissonant Extra Ordinary Not Robot Not Human in conjunction with the Long Beach Musicians League @ the Puka Bar every 4th Monday of the month.
