Alexandra (Ali) Garrison is an American-born, Toronto-raised singer, performer, voice teacher and clinician. After co-founding the acapella jazz trio, the Waverlies, she graduated with her Vocal Performance degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, and has since performed a huge variety of operatic and theatrical roles with both regional and national companies. Ali is a frequent concert/church soloist in Canada and the U.S. She especially enjoys working in tandem with artists, improvisers and composers to foster new works and promote music for a more harmonious world. Ali is a founding member and soloist with the renowned Nathaniel Dett Chorale, which was privileged to be Canada’s “gift” to President Obama’s Inauguration festivities and for whom she co-wrote the educational series, “Canaan Lan’. Working With Others

How I Work:

You name it, I can sing it.
When I am teaching voice/ singing, I work out of my studio in Toronto. My current private lesson fee is $60.00 per hour. I can also travel to do coachings and voice workshops, for a price. These things are always more effective in person. I teach Tuesday through Sunday. As an active and touring professional performer, I negotiate fees on an individual basis, by the work required and by the context of the work.

Experience:

BMA in vocal performance, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor
Founding member of The Waverlies, and The Nathaniel Dett Chorale
Operatic, Musical Theatre and straight Theatre roles
Concert and Church Soloist

hi, ali.

sis and i are just 2 gals trying to stop our severe musical self-censorship. we thought we might have enough time to wait for perfection. we've since changed our minds. ;) sis and i would sing Silent Night when we did the dinner dishes as kids. i'd pick a note, marty'd pick one, too - and we'd do our best to stay on our own paths, no matter HOW much the resultant dissonance tempted us. i can't imagine life without harmony or my sister. i take the high road, and marty takes the low one. traveling these roads together in song keeps us off the streets!
hey nah nah nah,
anne
