Amanda Halseyis a singer/songwriter of Soul, Hip-hop, and R&B music. In addition she is a sought-after session singer. Websites: www.amandahalsey.com and www.MySpace.com/amandahalsey Raised on Long Island by a single mother primarily in the Eastern Long Island town of Westhampton, Amanda Halsey grew up listening to soul and the birth of New York hip-hop. As a child, she would oftentimes record music she heard on TV and the radio on a toy tape player and impersonate each artist, note for note. Stevie Wonder, Aretha Franklin, and many others popular artists during her childhood provided a template for her musical vision. Amanda performed in singing groups throughout her adolescence, gaining experience in front of audiences. She began writing songs at an early age, one being “Recognize” which she wrote the music and lyrics for right out of high school, an ode to "haters." Over the years she has developed her voice and range and often incorporates her whistle register into songs, inspired by singers Minnie Ripperton, Mariah Carey, and Jill Scott. Currently performing and recording songs in her native New York, Amanda Halsey is poised to self-release her debut EP on S.H.E. records in 2009. The lead single will be what Amanda calls a "Hip-Hop march." Stay tuned.

Working With Others

How I Work:

Lead vocals, background vocals, and vocal arrangments. Also contribute hooks, choruses, and original lyrics.

Experience:

I record all genres of music. I sing, write lyics, and have recorded everything from Soul to Trance and Country. Especially adept at Soul and R&B/Hip-hop tracks.

I have recorded for folks here on Indaba as well as for professional producers who have major label and publishing contracts.

I record in my home studio, where I can create background harmonies and lead vocals in your particular style. I am flexible on rates, depending on your budget, but ususally ask at least $25 for background vocals and $40 for leads via PayPal.

If I contribute lyrics, music, and/or vocals to your song I expect to be credited.

I hope to hear from you all! Nothing is too small or large for me to work on, whether it's background vocals or creating or collaborating on a whole song. Thanks!

Equipment:

M-Audio microphone and pre-amp/interface.

Amanda Halsey, I just listened to "The Star Spangled Banner" and that note you hit at 1:13 was incredible :) :) Awesome rendition, indeed. Amanda, I really enjoy all of your expressions. Your love for music is profound and you give the listener so much to feel. Country, Trance, Hip hop, Americana, Gospel, R&B,Ballads, and Instrumentals. Your craft was fun to experience. Amanda, I really luved "Don't Let Life Pass You By". The message and the way you sang it was very uplifting. The musical arrangement in "Hans E. Vocal Trance" was beautiful. The harmony and your voice really flowed wonderfully. Amanda Halsey, continue to cultivate and share your talent with the universe. Thank you for visiting my profile and be blessed.

Peace and rock on,
Allan Blanks

Elexus Quinn wrote on May 6, 2009:

Hi Amanda,
Blues Evolution will be using your vocal tracs, but there is a small problem. The volume is extreamly low. In order to use your tracs as mixed, I have to put your tracs on about 9 and lower all the other tracs in relation to your. If you still have the origianl tracs, perhaps you can remix them at a louder volume, but without clipping?
Yes!
