Session Activity Bell Curve

Monday June 01, 2009 at 08:50 AM

Having been involved in many sessions in May, today I was visualising a strange bell curve in my mind, plotting the swells and lulls of activity most sessions seem to have.

So what stops so many sessions from keeping momument up?  I think feedback has a lot do to with it.

The groups I am working with now give really good feedback, both positive, negative and creative.   Other sessions I have been involved in rarely give any feedback between the artists, the session 'hangs', and good tunes stall in the making.

With indaba, find sessions where there is a lot of feedback being thrown around, and you generally find steady, active sessions.  Also, if you dont find people overally responsive to your additions (move on there are 1000's of sessions just audition) or creations (invite active people in, search a bit, browse profiles, they exist :).

Lastly, be prepared to compromise and listen, its COLLOBRATION not lets all be leaders :)

Oh and really lastly ;P look at where a session is up to before leeping on in, if they are mixing or doing final tracks, you may not get feedback from anyone on an audition.

back yet again

after bushfires, floods, a break in, power issues and changing jobs, I have been back online for about 2 weeks.

I have finalised by Fender Urge Demo EP, more for selling the Urge than myself, but they came out ok.

I will be doing some instructional vids online at www.riffeo.com very soon, as I want to pass on some

techniques while I can still play em :)

I am now looking to collaborate on almost anything; ambient, metal, blues, folk, prog, hip-hop, country, literally anything.

hi people,

I have been offline for a month or 2 undergoing some minor surgery.   This weekend I will be posting semi-produced versions of SlapNTap and Harmoniod.

Wes and I have done some basic volumne leveling as well as added some soft compression, we are still trying to keep the focus on the raw sound of the Urge.
