Sae Anything.

Hey, I'm Cae.

I've been drumming for nearly 12 years.
Total of about 1 year of formal lessons, which took place far too long ago.
I've recorded and toured with 2 different bands through high school. ( Alt Rock Styles)

Since then (2004), I have not been committed to a particular group, but have taken many opportunities to jam with a wide range of musicians, young and old, in places such as: Sunshine Coast, Victoria, Nelson, Vancouver, Edmonton and Costa Rica.

I'm mainly self taught, but enjoy chances to learn new ideas from all varieties of people.
I attempt to cover many songs from many genres and, for the most part, feel very satisfied in doing so. Although nothing compares to those live connections.

Lately (Jan '09 - ??) A good friend of mine (Shred Penner) and I have been getting together regularly and recording our sessions live, on the fly, with a Snowball Mic.
The sounds posted from 2009 are several selections out of the many hours of jammin'. There was no planned sequence to any of it so far. Just letting the love flow and experiencing the results and returns.

Recently I've decided to go 'back to basics' and review as much instructional material as I can stand. As well as explore other instruments which I have little or no experience with, such as; voice, piano, guitar, harmonica, hang drum, didgeridoo ?

I'm in the process of recording a collection of beats/breakbeats that I intend to share with anyone who is interested.
Primarily coming from my acoustic drum set, but will also include hand drums and small percussion.
Varying in length, (anywhere from a few seconds to several minutes) I aim to blend genres.

By the way, like your chops my friend and sure I will give you whatever advice you need for tracking drums. Just ask. See you around!

Tommy Bozung wrote on September 25, 2009:

Hey Caeos,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I pretty much get out of the studio in the summer months. Fall is my time to get back into the swing of things. Wierd I know, but its kinda my thing. I am actually tracking the drums for a session here on Indaba that I had to tell the guy I couldnt get to it before fall. He asked me last spring.
Anyway, yes I bought a Taye a few years back and love it. When outfitting my studio I selected instruments that give the most bang for the buck. My Taye is a perfect example of that. Back in the day I had a full ride endorsements with Rogers drums, DW pedals and Aquarian heads. I had these huge kits. It was unbelievable. I had one for the rehearsal hall, One studio laquer finished maple for well the studio and a kit for on the road. Those were the days.

Justin Murrill wrote on June 17, 2009:

Thanks for checking out my music man. I really like what you have going on as well. I have been really busy getting ready to move lately, but if you want to collaborate sometime in the future, I am sure enough down for it.

Matt Gingras wrote on June 16, 2009:

Alex Daniel wrote on June 12, 2009:

I especially like "Fox in a Leg Trap"...it's different from anything I've heard before...this applies in some form to most of your songs...

The thing about "No Girls Aloud"...throw in a couple of short guitar riffs that don't involve muted strings and ones that do take up a big part of the fretboard (I mean make the guitarist's fingers go all over the place)...or they could just be short licks with the same characteristics...the voice isn't bad, but in this song it sounds almost "bloody"...like a little bit to spiky for this song...maybe you should change the mix of the voice track...

Otherwise, great works so far!

Thanks dude! Yeah I'll totally work with you on any projects ya want! The drums are programmed, I don't have a drum set in my studio setup yet! Plus I couldn't play that anyways, haha.

I doubt you're supposed to post covers, it was just the most recent thing I had done, so I threw it up there.
