"more knowledge than college bands flipped the flow is... words manifested, why you chose this..."
upon listening to the the fat boys' first lp (brrrrr, stick 'em!!!) and writing and recording (on his father's tape deck) his first raps at the age of 7, cashtro (chris cachia) was always and already hooked on Hip Hop culture... forever intrigued by the power of words, chris saw Hip Hop music as the most pure and potentially powerful musical form... his first full-length album, "the project" -- along with an accompanying and extensive piece exploring issues of artistic self-identity -- was the final requirement for chris' master's degree... he continues to write, record, and perform while also lecturing on popular culture and identity with a focus on Hip Hop music and culture... rapper, writer, student, teacher, cash adores -- more than anything else -- writing about himself in the third-person...
"what the mass media offer is not popular art, but entertainment which is intended to be consumed like food, forgotten and replaced by a new dish" -- w.h. auden...
"and what, socrates, is the food of the soul? surely, i said, knowledge is the food of the soul" -- plato...
"i suggest ya change ya diet, it could lead to high blood pressure if ya fry it" -- mf doom...
