A Scene on a Boat

About Me

Skill Level:
Semi-Pro
Craft:
student, filmmaker, musician
Instruments:
Drums (All), Guitar (All), Bass, Keyboard (All)
Genres:
noise rock, ambient, punk
Influences:
My Bloody Valentine, Autolux, The Velvet Underground, Radiohead, The Living End, Nine Inch Nails, Oasis, Pink Floyd, Queens Of The Stone Age, Sex Pistols, The Secret Machines, Blur, The Clash

I listen to a lot more music then my influences let on but working on writing all those down is annoying. I think you can get the gist of it by looking at the bands I'm into.

I am most proficient at drums, which I have been playing for (jeez does this make me feel old) 14 years now. I got my first guitar at the age of thirteen and have been on and off in my seriousness of it. Either way I can work my way around the fretboard decently. I recall taking bass lessons and owning a crappy bass around the same time I got my first guitar so I am not sure how long I have been playing bass. I have been playing bass seriously for about two years now. I play some keys. Most of my knowledge of keys comes from playing Marimba and Vibraphone so I am not all too great at keyboard but I can manage. I have been in and out of serious bands for about 8 years now. Along the way I have picked up a great interest in production and the integration of computers and other alternative instruments or sounds. Also, I love ripping out the guts of anything in the attempt to make it scream back at me. I love noise and creating it. I have a limited knowledge of circuitry but I'm always willing to learn. I've re-wired a few guitars and built a few unsuccessful pedals, but the inner workings of instruments is also another fascination of mine.

Basically, I do music all day during my free time - I love to play and you should contact me if music is your life too.

Extended

Day Job:
Student Assistant! Whoo!

Working With Others

How I Work:

I like to relax and hang-out with the people I'll be jamming with; bullshitting as we set-up usually. You have to smoke a bowl before you really get crackin', that's a given. I have no problem with hard work, especially if musically related. I am a student so my free time varies but I always make time for music. Otherwise, I'd lose my mind.

Experience:

All explained in the About Me portion.

Equipment:

Trap Ludwig Accent 4 piece (3 piece right now, since I broke my rack tom holder), Tama/Pacific/Ludwig/Yamaha Hardware, 20" Sabian B8 Ride Cymbal, 16" Zildjian AAX Crash Cymbal, 10" Sabian B8 Splash Cymbal, 15" Zildjian Crash (can't remember series), 14" Sabian B8 Hi-Hats

A half blown amplifier, a shitty bass I paid $20 for, an Epiphone electric a friend lent me, A MOTU 8 PRE digital interface, 25 key MIDI trigger, a Korg Sequencer, Digitech digital 8 channel mixer, Shure drum mics, probably some other shit too...
