About Me

Skill Level:
Professional
Craft:
transcriber, composer, songwriter, musician, lyricist
Instruments:
acoustic guitar, drums, saxophone, Bass, piano
Genres:
experimental

Born September 20, 1971. Been playing drums for over 34 years. Started Piano in '79, Alto Sax in '82, Bari Sax in '87, Rudimental Snare in '88, Accoustic Guitar in '97. Have played in working bands since '89, mainly as a drummer/vocalist. Formed Summer of Sol in '99, and am still gigging currently around central lower Michigan. Am endeavoring to help Sam Ash Music Stores' new School of Rock (Charlotte, NC) as a drum/guitar/vocal instructor... am currently on-location to do so...

Am also looking for musicians to perform session-work on my first album (paid/negotiable), including voice, keys, strings, brass, woodwinds, drums, and rare instruments.

Working With Others

How I Work:

Right now, I am not available for online recording sessions, though I would love to be. Until I have capital to invest in the necessary equipment to do so, I am only available for physical (in-person) recording sessions. Am relocating to Concord, NC soon, and hope to be plugged in by this fall.

I'm professional and love to experiment. I do accept session-for-session exchange. I usually have an overall concept of what I'm gonna do for a song during the first listen. Very good at collaboration. Easy to work with. Open to suggestions, direction, dictation.

Experience:

Since 1982, I have performed in front of audiences as large as 310,000 people and as small as the bar staff, being a saxophonist, drummer, vocalist, keyboardist, lyricist, guitarist, arranger, composer, and collaborator (about 26 years).

My gig resume' includes performances with: (in chronological order) Black Hands, Drip, Limited Edition Drum and Bugle Corp, MSU Competition Drumline and Spartan Marching Band (Snare Drum- '92/'93), Rhombus, The Woodshed Quartet, Wanderjar (Wanderjahr), Martian Beatniks, The Ronnie Ford Experience, Pound of Soul (Kissing Kate Barlow-Scott Farcas and The Rage), Drag Star (The Pusherz), The C.J. Smith Big Band, Andy Fyne and the Simples, The LCC Jazz Combo, Puddin' Head, Harden & Doan, 20% Larger, The Whiskey Shed Revival, Ingham County Regulars, The Wolf Pack, and Summer of Sol, and have been a part of numerous jam recordings, and a total of 9 LP's, including stints at Michael Powell's Vanguard Studios, The Recording Institute of Detroit, and The Velvet Elvis (now Chateau 541) in Nashville, TN.

I have composed drumline scores for Lansing Everett H.S., and Eaton Rapids H.S. in MI, cello and piano scores for Wanderjahr, and was paid to transcribe Tower of Power horn charts for Olivet College. I also have composed and scored my own music (32 compositions). Am now endeavoring to transfer scores to Finale'. Definately not the most productive composer, but I am striving for quality above quantity. And it is a real challenge to create new symphonies in light of the phenominal works of the past 300 years...

Equipment:

2004 DW 5-piece tangerine/broken glass retro drum kit, old restored parlour piano, Franciscan accoustic guitar, Finale' 2003, and especially- my MIND.
