About Me

Skill Level:
Semi-Pro
Craft:
musician, ninja
Instruments:
acoustic guitar, voice
Genres:
electronic, australian warmetal, singer-songwriter, acoustic

I've been playing guitar for about 12 years. While I dabbled in electric guitar when I first started out, I now play pretty much only acoustic. I am also a songwriter and singer. I compose, record, produce, and perform with my good friend Peter Yoon (check him out on the site) and have been doing so since we met in high school. We play a mix of acoustic and electronic music and we like to work with people who are musically diverse. Even though he just lives a few miles up town we've been using indaba to manage our recording projects so that we can keep working on songs even when our schedules don't coincide.

Extended

Band or Group:
Pete & Dan
Influences:
Talking Heads, David Byrne, Bela Fleck, Bruce Springsteen, J. S. Bach, Postal Service, Bob Marley, The Shins, Dave Matthews, Trey Anastasio, Paul Simon, Dave Brubeck, Kanye West, Joao Gilberto, Stan Getz, Citizen Cope, The Killers, Jay- Z.
Favorite Lyric:

"I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly, music, for in the patterns of music and all arts are the keys of learning."
-Plato

"You see nobody's wise enough to turn this ancient boat around
These are the muddy waters I'm swimming in to make a living
That I should drown in them should come as no surprise."
- The Shins (Mine's Not a High Horse)

Day Job:

Working With Others

How I Work:

I'd like to find people to collaborate with on Indaba. My friend Pete and I have been writing a lot of music and programming drum parts, so we are particularly interested in finding great drummers (R&B and Hip/Hop drummers in particular) who can play (and elaborate on) the beats we've been writing.

Experience:

Guitar/Singing/Songwriting: 12 years more or less.

Recording/Engineering: 7yrs

Equipment:
Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Macbook Pro, various other gear.

Thanks for informing me about Annie. I had a couple exchanges with her and found her to be inspiring. It's nice to have her site as a remembrance. Thanks...

Thanks for the kind words Dan. I'm loving this community. What a great idea for a website. Those tunes are from two different courses I took while studying abroad in Australia. Yesterday is from a Contemporary Style Analysis class, and Untitled was my final track for a Reason Lab. Looking forward to meeting you in person.

Yeah I'm from Guilford (but graduating this year and hoping to relocate to some place more interesting). You have created a great site here. It looks REALLY nice. The interface and profiles are well designed and I can see this as a great tool for meeting people and getting projects organized. I just discovered it today but cant wait to delve further into it.
