Please... call me Daniel.

I'm a hardworking musician that gets a job done correctly and on time. I am passionate and motivated about music and I'll work as hard as super-humanly possible to get to the top.

Extended

Band or Group:
Daylight Robbery
Favorite Lyric:

"Back to school. Back to school, to prove to Dad that I'm not a fool. I got my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight, I hope I don't get in a fight. Ohhhh, back to school. Back to school. Back to school. Well, here goes nothing."

Working With Others

How I Work:

When it comes to working with other people I like to work with them through personal or internet sessions.

Yes, I charge. But only on occasion.

"If you're good at something don't do it for free."

-The Joker (The Dark Knight)

Experience:

I've been playing music since 1999. Started with piano, went on to play guitar, drums, etc. My main instrument is guitar, but I am also very familiar with piano.

I most recently got into my long term dream of making film scores. I love doing this because of the freedom I have when it comes to styles of music. People need many styles for different films, and I feel like I can provide that.

I sing, play guitar, and write for the band "Daylight Robbery" (www.myspace.com/daylightrobberyca).

Equipment:

Software:
Steinberg's Nuendo
Sony Acid Pro

Plug-ins:
A whole lot of them.

Hardware:
Sony MDR-7506
M-Audio Keystation 88es

...blah blah blah numbers numbers numbers. Who cares what's in between? Isn't the best possible result all that matters?

Hey man, yeah music is sort of on hold right now due to technical issues with my recording computer and financial issues with money that tends to find its way out of my pocket lol. I'm still playing everyday, but I just cant record anything :( Hows things on your end?

Richard Louie wrote on November 1, 2009:

Hey Dan! Thanks for the kind words. Your music is great. I love your ability to, for lack of a better phrase, create a picture. I think my favorite is definitely "Night Owl", very fitting.

Hello Daniel Ciurlizza, thank you for paying me a visit. Lately, I've been working on some new compositions which I hope to debut soon :) Daniel, your art is exquisite and I really enjoyed the intensity and confrontation taking place in "Bullet Holes". Daniel, your range and appreciation for music is extremely profound. I admire "versatility" because it takes courage and often times an artist is taking "risks" and "stepping outside her or his comfort zone" to achieve a new sound. Beyond that, I think it's brilliant when someone captures the "essence" of a genre and manages to re-create it with her or his own signature touch. Daniel, you do this very well. I like your expressions and your ideas. Excellent work, indeed. Remain inspired and trust your instincts. Have a blessed one and I look forward to your latest recordings.

Peace and Rock On,

Allan Blanks

I agree. As long as Akoustic Piano gets the job done, then I can't complain too much. I actually had to order a new controller this week. Apparently my 9 year old board just can't handle the abuse anymore, LOL!

Nori L. wrote on October 14, 2009:

Hope everything is going well for you. Thank you for your kind words. I loveeeed Late Nights, it's amazing! I dunno how to describe it but it's got this charm about it... haha I think I'm addicted... I replayed it over and over again for like most of yesterday. Anyway keep up the amazing work and hope to hear more from you :D!~

DND AKA Jew Hefner wrote on October 14, 2009:

thats what most people say truth be told i cant afford it but i know what u mean, rubbish music, mainly hip hop is selling a lot of records because of the good audio engineering,

I checkd some of ur beats, really soulful and melodic, i love da samples u use also.

Peace

Rath Campbell wrote on October 13, 2009:

The song on my profile has actually been there for a while, it is one of several songs that I've sequenced over the years. Music lately has been going well. Yesterday I recorded 4 or 5 jams with a friend ( he plays drums and I play guitar and bass and such )...I want to add one or two more organic songs ( entirely non-sequenced ) soon, just haven't got to that point yet... What kinds of musical ventures have you got yourself into lately?

Roger Y. wrote on October 10, 2009:

Hey, Thanks! im glad u like my stuff
umm i use a lot of different things.. and that was an older song so i've learned more about mastering and mixing and stuff since then but anyway
i use FL Studio 8 as a sequencer, and my main VSTIs i like are: Albino 3, Predator, Sylenth1, Genesis CM and EVM Occam SE.
hope that helps!

Tommy McKenzie wrote on October 10, 2009:

Hey Daniel,
Yeah titles can be very interesting. "I'm Getting Ready to Leave this World" is an old Southern Gospel Song that can be found in the old red back hymnals of the Pentecostal Churches. It is an upbeat song about the rapture and in traditional Southern Gospel Concerts, if a pianist just tears the keys off the piano with it, people just eat it up. So, I decided to put my spin on it since I do play in a lot of Churches. I do use Sonar and I really like the results I get with it. I am planning on buying Pro Tools 8 in the near future, but I will still have Sonar as a backup and or alternative to work with. They both have their ups and dows, but both are great. Akoustik Piano by Native Instruments is great as well. I really love the brilliance or brightness of the Concert D piano in it. On up beat flashy songs, it is always great to have a bright piano so you hear every note distinctly. I tend to like a darker piano for more classical and soundtrack/film score type tracks. How is pianoteq? I haven't played it. I have a friend who has Ivory and it sounds pretty good as well. Ofcourse, I would really love to have a Yamaha C7 in my house, but that is a little out of my budget at the moment.

Akara Etteh wrote on October 9, 2009:

Lol at the photo comment. :D

Ouch. Princess mononoke. Great film, and that piece was incredible, emotive. I hate and love that music can move me so.

Thanks for the EWQL tip...I definitely hear you on the tweaking thing...This art is so subjective and I can spend months retweaking something

DND AKA Jew Hefner wrote on October 9, 2009:

SORRY MAN!!! It's just myself as an artist do not know if im good, if im bad and I cant trust people who tell me in person becoz they only tell me positive things becoz in person ppl dont want to hurt ur feelings.

Sorry man If i ANnoyed u!!

I'm into different genres so i'll take a listen to ur stuff also

SORRY AGAIN.

WONT DO ANYMORE OF MY BULLSHIT BECOZ I UNDERSTAND IT CAN BE VERY ANNOYING!!

APPRECIATE UR FEEDBACK and ur TIME THOUGH man. Especially someone who is reluctant to listen to the hip hop genre

THANKS ALOT

Keep up the good work and the positive attitude and I am sure you will be rewarded. It's nice having you around Indaba!

Hey Dan, I've been writing a lot but I still don't have anything recorded yet. Most of the pieces are not completely finished. Once I have some free time I'm sure I'll have some new music up. How about you? Are you up to anything new?

Akara Etteh wrote on October 9, 2009:

Oh, also if you send me your email I can invite you to mydropbox which has some of my in progress stuff on there

Akara Etteh wrote on October 9, 2009:

Thanks man!

Great profile photo btw...is that how everyone is balling in Cali? Professional photoshoots and everything... ;)
Have just been not finishing stuff lately, and also working on some dance music stuff.

I'll get a few things up that I am happier with.
I like "Only in Europe" a lot. What do you use for such realistic sounding orchestrals? Nice to hear you pursuing that "cinematic" route...sounding very film-score/US/New-World orchestral. Lovit! Can almost hear Lord of the Rings/Zimmer

Ok, will have something up soonish that you can help me critique. Until then!
