My name is Dave McIsaac. I write, sing, play keys and fiddle. I have been a performing musician for more years than I care to mention. I've been on the verge of "success" a number of times (in a band that was signed in the 70's), traveling all over the US and Canada performing on stage with or opening up for dozens of major stars of the time (Ricky Skaggs, Juice Newton, Doug Kershaw, Bailie and the Boys, etc.). But life on the road has it's drawbacks - and I succumbed. It's been a long road back up to good health and a sound mind! I'm happy to say that I've been clean and sober for a good number of years and have made the decision to try a different path to "success".

Now I'm a semi-retired musician trying to make a living in Pocatello, Idaho, taking care of his beautiful wife (Mary Jo) who has MS (Multiple Sclerosis). I don't do much playing anymore. I'm not particularly into bar gigs and there really isn't much else available around here. And playing on the road is rough on my wife, so I keep it down to an occasional show with old friends like Tommy Overstreet, Johnny U and the boys, or whoever else happens to be in the area. I'm just doing some writing and recording at home in my spare time with the dream that someday I might accidentally come up with something good enough to be picked up and recorded so I could take care of my wife properly. (She can't take care of herself very well anymore.)

I've recently completed my first CD. I did it all at home using my Fostex FD8 (digital multi-track recorder), sequencing on my Peavey DPM-SI keyboard which I MIDI into a Casio WK 3000 for a fatter sound. All the fiddle is done on a ZETA Strados electric violin. All things considered, it came out pretty good (maybe God had something to do with that...)

Awesome!
Next week ..after the 4th of July celebrations are over we will hook up to get our transfer methods together.

I like using FLAC for fill transfers. It is a lossless compression program. I will create a folder for us on my server for moving files back and forth... anyway..we will get all that figured out next week..
Are you on PC or Mac? Doesn't matter, Just curious :-)

Mike

Hello Dave-
Thanks for the add. Sounds like your road has been just one of those atypical musician's lives. Mine's been similar - I had the most work touring with a Pink Floyd Tribute band for 10 years. Now I'm focusing on performing my own music, and with my new CD out things are actually going well (though still tight financially).
Your playing sounds top notch; it's nice to meet folks who have a great interest in a wide variety of styles. I'll check out your myspace page as well, we'll stay in touch!
