Time for a mid-life crisis. Or another way to look at it... time to get back to doing what I do best... creating music. I grew up playing anything I could turn into a drum. In third grade my parents blessed me with classical piano lessons, a piano, a drum, and a xylophone. I went on to win several awards in high-school including three-time All State, a prestigious University of Alabama Honor Band percussion section chair, and then discovered motorcycles, cars and girls. Flunked out of college the first time around and left music to pursue the Dot-Com-Dream. (stupid) I never got music out of my system and now I'm at that cross-roads where I have to create. I have 20 years of pent-up beats and it's time to put some of it down in bits and bytes.

Working With Others

How I Work:

Right now I'm just building my chops back up, getting really complicated rhythms out of my head and looking for things to work on. I've found I don't work well alone. All my work is free for now. I like to download tracks into my DAW (Ableton Live) and then work through the song before laying down a drum track. I tend to be more compositional than improvisational.

Experience:

Played in a German Folk band, Big Band Jazz band, and several Southern Rock bands in high school and college. I also was first chair in several orchestras, percussion ensembles, and symphonic bands. I marched two years in Auburn University's Marching Band and then just sorta quit for a while. Lately I've been working with a couple Bop Jazz combos, Smooth and Fusion groups. I've also been performing the role of a sound engineer and associate producer for an upcoming release.

Equipment:

Ableton Live 7/8, Cubase 4, Mac, PC, M-Audio and Lexicon audio interfaces, too many VST instruments to list, Djembe, Bongos, electronic percussion (congas, drumkits, and every worldbeat instrument you can imagine) and drums via Zendrum, Alesis DM-5, and Roland Handsonic HPD-15. I also have low-end pro gear (mics, etc.) for recording vocals and instruments.
