About Me

Professional
Craft:
musician, songwriter, producer, visual artist
Instruments:
piano, keyboard, drums, percussion, voice (male), electric bass
Genres:
hip hop, electronica, house, jazz fusion, pop rock, experimental, alternative rock, ambient groove, soundtrack, worldbeat

I'm a Songwriter/producer with my own digital studio based in Los Angeles.

I'm eager to collaborate with other songwriters, vocalists, guitarists, bassists, DJ/remixers, and other producers.

I'm very much into the merging of acoustic and electronica styles. Looking to create fresh sounds with an alternative edge.

If you are a rapper, or spoken word artist, I've got your backing tracks.

I also do up and coming songwriter/artist demos, and (:30 to 1:00 min.) voice-over commercial reels, visual promotions, and image consulting, so let me know what you need.

Cloud that we embrace

Miracles...gonna turn my world
Around Heaven Bound...

Working With Others

How I Work:

I prefer to create (basic track) musical arrangements for accomplished musicians (guitar, bass, keys, horns, etc.), and of course, vocalists. Especially vocalist and spoken word artists.

I love layers and depth on a track, but music that breathes rhythm and has great dynamics is very important to me.

I also love adding drums/percussion, keyboards, or lyric/melody to pre-existing demos.

Can write lyric/melody to specific styles if necessary, or help create radio friendly finished audio. To end up with a unique sonic experience.

I'm serious about music, a good collaborator, musically diverse, and open to experimentation and alternative approaches when constructing tracks.

I love music with atmosphere, strong grooves, and an edge for communicating a message. I write and produce all the time (I practically live in the studio) and will be posting new tracks periodically. So please keep me bookmarked.

If you are a music supervisor, publisher, or producer looking to place music in productions, get at me, OK?!!
Serious only please.
Thanks!!!

Experience:

I have 22 years as a vocalist, songwriter/musician/programmer, specializing in keyboards, and electronic or acoustic percussion.

10 years producing and arranging music and vocals.

A good lyricist/melodist, who is creative, open, and forward thinking. I like great music period, and love a challenge to create what is needed on a project.

A very capable Re-mixer/Sampler, musically influenced by many popular genres, as well as alternative/experimental styles.

I'm currently working on my first solo CD release set for Summer 2008. I'll keep you posted.

You represent your style very nicely! Technology, yes...what would we do without it. I always thought that my guitar playing was third rate until I got on here and got the critiquing I needed to build my confidence. It would be my pleasure to be able to throw some tracks down to your drum joints. Send em on over. I am am free to jam all day on Sunday, so send me what you can. If you cant get them to me via indaba you can send them to my email...philip_maas@yahoo.com. Looking forward to receiving them. Keep the beats real bro! Phil
