Dustin Rohrer is a native of North Carolina, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. While in college, Dustin played professionally with various artists in North Carolina. In 2001, he toured the East Coast and Brazil with Nashville-based Christian recording artist Carl Cartee. Dustin rejoined Cartee's band in the winter of 2005 for a stint in Turkey. In the summer of 2002 Dustin had the opportunity to play under the direction of Jerry Coker and David Baker at the Jamey Aebersold Jazz Workshops. In 2003, Dustin was a recipient of the Jazz Achievement Award at UNC-Chapel Hill. He has shared the stage with Slide Hampton, Barry Harris, Scott Wendholt, Mike LeDonne, Joel Frahm, Steve Wilson, Sonny Fortune, Candido and others. In May 2006 Dustin received his Masters degree in Jazz Drumset from the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with John Riley and Bobby Sanabria and performed in ensembles under the direction of Phil Markowitz, Steve Slagle and Ted Rosenthal. In New York, he has had the opportunity to perform at such notable clubs as Sweet Rhythm, Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola, 55 Bar, Makor, Kenny's Castaways, The Lion's Den and the Nuyorican Poets Cafe. Dustin also performed with the Afro-Cuban Jazz Band from Manhattan School of Music at the 2006 conference for the International Association for Jazz Education in New York City. After spending a year on the road with Irish rock band the Prodigals, Dustin joined up with modern hymnwriters Keith and Kristyn Getty. He currently can be seen on the road with the Gettys, or in Nashville, where he lives with his wife, Lisa.
