Hi, thanks for stopping by. It's great to hear from you. Hope all is well. I'm currently recording a new CD. I can't wait to get it out on here but it may a little while. Maybe by the end of Summer. I'll keep ya posted. Talk soon, TJ Slim.

Hey Grey, (Earle!, oh, as in Earl Grey tea?) I wish indaba had a feature that would let me know when I get messages. I just happened to check today and saw your kind comments. I just worked on a video for the Subdudes; I interviewed them and then shot some video for what will be their new DVD. Now these guys can show you a trick or two. Been working on "The Letter" (boxtops) and "Things We Said Today" (Bealtes) in my sort of americana acoustic finger-picked sort of way. Both in Am as it turns out. Changing the melody a bit, but keeping the chord structure. I did that with Cream's "White Room" last year. I think I'm on to something with the reinvention of solid old tunes. They'll have to do until my next inspiration. Regards, Ty

Hi, Still looking for software? Cakewalk makes some great products. Sonar Home studio is great and Vista ready. I have had luck with Guitar tracks pro in the past. It's not too expensive. Cool Tunes, man. Any questions, feel free to ask. TJ Slim

Hey Earl, The longest journey begins with the first step. As you may know, I've been at this a while myself. I think less is more. I do all of my work on a Digi 002, in a quiet, tight but not dead space. I bypass the 002 preamps and A/D converters, using an RME A/D converter, GML and Millennia Media preamps, Groove Tube direct boxes and Neumann and Schoeps mics. All of that adds up to improving the sound. I try to stay really understated with effects. I got lost in pedals and effects boxes for the guitar a while back, but eventually found them to be a crutch. Going clean made me work harder on my chops and composition, but makes the music stronger. I was surprised at myself for using the little bit of tremelo on one of the e. guiitar backing tracks on Swing Low. First time I have ever used actual tremelo from my old Fender amp, but it helped to create the mood of the piece. Thinking outside the box and getting Seth to do clarinet on that tune really makes it (at least for me). Thanks for listening, Keep at it. Ty

Hey Grey, Thanks for the note. Appreciate it. I'm guessin' , based on hearing your tunes you liked "Walken My Lizard" of three tunes I have up. Got a new piece of space music called embryo that's a little more spacey. I'll try to load that up today. In one of your tunes I keep think about "Pictures Of Matchstick Men", if you know that old tune. -Ty
