Man.. Rmxng The Roots. That was a ride!!! Great vocals to work with. Started working right away, but didn't have a whole lot spare time. Basically I layed down a basic track about 2 weeks ago and then let it rest 4 a while. I realized that the entry period was coming to an end soon, so the night before the deadline I finished the piece. My idea was to enhance the vocals with supportive synth lines. Sounds that cut it but leave enough room for the vocals to jump out. Had a lot of fun laying the beat down. I love crazy beat patterns. For this one I used a BIG 4tothefloor Kick as the basis. That worked to avoid a lot of clutteryness since the vocals and the synths were already quite hectic. Unfortunately I cannot really listen to the other entries right now since I don't have speakers hooked up to the computer I'm using. Anyway, I wish everyone the best of luck and I'm sure we'll end up with 25 massive mixes in the first round. If you like my mix, I'd appreciate your vote!
