Bio
Jeremy Henry epitomizes the post-modern musician: he is self-taught. He plays piano and guitar, both without ever having a single lesson. This mentality drove him to use technology as a self-taught form of musical composition.
At age 9 he began making remixes, using a stop/motion technique by recording samples from vinyl records onto cassette tapes, giving birth to his glitch-infused style. His fascination with technology and sound manipulation led to DIY production, combining varied elements of his background (which ranges from 80’s hip-hop to Broadway showtunes) in a cohesive musical expression of his unique life perspective.
After consistent dissatisfaction with the landscape of pop music, Jeremy began to produce music professionally in 2006, using advances in technology to create remixes and mash-ups (citing Girl Talk as an influence), and using those sensibilities to compose original songs.
In 2009, he remixed the award-winning song “ROCKET” for indie recording artist, Jasper James. An instant connection was established between the two pioneers, and they joined forces, combining Jasper’s lyrical genius with Jeremy’s tech savvy. The result was a reinvention of the underground genre “Glitch-Hop,” which takes DJ staples of break-beats and turntablism, meshing them with samples, sound glitches and substantial lyrical content. Together, they have revolutionized digital artistry, creating a sonic experience that can only be described as “the future of music.”
