musician

Jon Cornell was born in Phoenix, Arizona, and moved with his family to Las Vegas, Nevada at age four. Having grown up constantly exposed to music both classic and contemporary, and drawn to the music of the 1980s, as well as greats like The Beatles, it seemed only natural that Jon began playing music by age twelve. He began his musical education at the Las Vegas Academy of Performing Arts, studying Classical and Jazz bass under famed Classical Double Bassist Audrey Bush. Jons experience at LVA would enable him to participate in regional festivals with both large and small Jazz ensembles, as well as various symphony orchestras.
After graduating from LVA, Jon went on to study Jazz bass with Bob Badgely (Joe Williams) and Tom Warrington (Freddie Hubbard) at the University of Las Vegas, Nevada. While playing with the UNLV Jazz Ensemble, Jon traveled throughout Europe, Australia and the states, performing to Audiences at The Telluride Jazz festival, The North Sea Jazz festival, The Reno Jazz Festival, The Flagstaff Jazz Festival and The Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
After a few years of performing with various entertainers on the Las Vegas Strip, Jon was hired to perform with Bobby Caldwell in David Cassidys The Rat Pack is Back at The Desert Inn. Three years later Jon was performing steadily in the showrooms all over the city with artists such as Gloria Gaynor, Diahann Carroll, Shirley Bassey, David Cassidy, Chaka Khan, Melissa Manchester, Peabo Bryson, Bobby Caldwell, Debbie Reynolds, Bobby Vinton, Frankie Avalon, Robert Goulet, Stefan Karrlson, Jack Jones, Mickey Rooney.
In October of 2003, Jon relocated to New York City. He resides in Brooklyn, recording and touring with various artists. Since moving to New York Jon has worked with famed record producer Steve Albini (Nirvana, NIN, Pixies etc) Frank Fillipetti (Aerosmith, Foriegner etc) the bands Pillow Theory, Daphne, Kill the Alarm, William Rottman, Sundown, Wiser Time, J-Henry, and the expierimental jazz group the New Breucklyn quartet.
