I go by the M.C. name of Kava-1 and represent a crew out of Vancouver Island B.C... I have written literally hundreds of songs for well over a decade as a semi-professional performer; writing, recording, performing live, as both a group member and solo artist... i have pretty much pushed myself to cover all kinds of subject matter as an artist ranging from battle rapping, to introspective "regular dude" rap and more recently focusing on politically motivated/concious revolutionary tracks... "Edutainment" as the great KRS-One once called it.... .... Recording with artists from both the U.S., Europe and Canada; I am a serious artist who prefers to collaborate with artists i can relate with on a creative and personal level.... It's hard to find other MC's who can match my passion and work ethic when focused on a project... I'm pretty flexible to how i record; sometimes i write to the beat first and record, sometimes i write first and match the verse/s to a beat that suits the mood, sometimes i write to something and record the verse/s to something completely different; whatever makes good music is all that matters to me... i've started this profile in the hopes finding like minded artists; especially producers who will match my efforts commitment to record REAL hip-hop. I like to approach recording much like Pac did; soldier up for hours/days in the studio and just do as much as we can.... As long as the inspiration is still buzzing; i can go as long as anybody... I'm available as a ghost writer to any artists interested, guest spots on tracks with other artists... I have experience collabing w/ other artists through Indaba and it has been a great experience... I'm looking forward to collaborating w/ many talented artists in the future on Indaba...I also enjoy the challenge of collaborating with artists outside of the hip-hop genre as well, so... ANYBODY interested; let's do it!
- Experience:
my start as a real artist came with the release of "Itap records presents; Tales from the script" an album that was professionally recorded, mixed and pressed in 2001...
I moved on to record 3 mixtape albums spanning from '02 - '05..."Planting the seeds vol.1 & 2" and "Close our eyes" (a Tsunami relief album that was recorded and released in the wake of the Tsunami that had hit Thailand on Dec. 26 2004. All proceeds were donated to the Red Cross for Tsunami victim relief)
All 3 of those mixtapes were released with members of the group Homegrown Inc. a group that my brother; Evo. Freez, my best friend; DJ Stelos and myself had started back in 2002...
My next professionally pressed release came later in 2005 with "Spy vs. Spy" a concept album written and recorded by myself and another member of the group...
Recently I had the opportunity to be a part of the "Zeitgeist mixtape" which featured such artists as Immortal Technique, C-Rayz Walz, DZK and fellow Indaba music artists as Nepharius & Colby macinnis... you can download this mixtape free @ this link :

I am right now in the process of releasing my first solo mixtape titled "THAT! just happened!" while finishing the last half of my first professionally pressed solo album....
I have a great deal of experience performing live headlining for several venues and opening for the likes of Aceyalone, the world famous Beatnuts, Obie Trice and K-os just to name a few .

Yizzo! I know its been a while since you hit me up but the beat the 8th is cut short. I made that beat like a year ago in fruity loops then the my cpu at the time crashed. So I lost the files but i could try to loop it out or we could do somethin fresh hit me up
