Dizzy Spin wrote on February 21, 2009:

Sounds like people are getting pissy that you didn't choose their mixes. Man, if one guy had 10 mixes that were the best, he should have been chosen. Thems the way the cookies crumble! Best mix = winner > period! I was SO happy that it had nothing to do with popularity votes. I think you did a bang-up job picking the mixes, and it was certainly no easy task listening to the hundreds that were submitted. Good for you giving 'up and coming,' talented artists an opportunity to really shine. I'm sure it's going to seriously help their careers out! You took the time, and people are still complaining down there? Come on, guys. Really? You're lucky you even got the opportunity to have your stuff listened to by this guy!

Zach W. wrote on February 21, 2009:

Yo if this is actually K,
thank you for picking one of my remixes.
I put a lot into those.
get at me any time.

Jackson D. wrote on February 21, 2009:

I cant believe you chose two people that won two songs each! Theres no way their remixes were That much better than everyone elses. You could've spread the wins around. Winning this contest could've meant alot in terms of boosting some up and coming producers' careers. Its great that you had this contest but then to limit the results like that when you could have spread the success around more; thats messed up man.
Not to mention the chosen mixes are all quite mediocre.

Dizzy Spin wrote on February 21, 2009:

Crucial has always been one of my favs. Phat drum and guitar - very Dick Dale and the Daletones (I'm from Cali; can really appreciate that!)

"Lay-go" said it well... I think maybe a good idea would be just calling for 'music submissions' and then you could just choose the beats and music you like and maybe put lyrics to them...In the spirit of collaboration...no need for prizes...just for the sake of music : ) I think that would be fun too. Thanks again for the opportunity, really do appreciate it.

Dizzy Spin wrote on February 21, 2009:

Yoiur choices were right on! So glad they weren't based on the voting system - as we all know, popularity does NOT equal good music. Especially happy to hear you went with the "chilled" version of Avitor. Keep up the excellent work. Been a fan for years. Thanks for the opportunity to collaborate on your tracks. Peace.

Rodney R. wrote on February 20, 2009:

nik tee wrote on January 4, 2009:

love workin on yer trax, man!seems there is always too many great sounds to choose from and i have to get the scalpel out and start cutting away, leaving only the essentials.the strings are what standout for me.i can't seem to excise them no matter how much i try they always end up in the mix.one of my favorite producers would have to be rza cause he's a master of the string section.sounds like real live players on "fun".and yes i'm havin fun.

Wal Martian wrote on January 1, 2009:

Where are the contest rules and guidelines? I don't know if we are restricted to using only the sounds provided or if we can make a whole beat from scratch and just use the vocals. I'm having trouble finding this information.
