About Me

Skill Level:
Professional
Craft:
musician
Instruments:
Violin (All), acoustic guitar, Synthesizer (All)
Genres:
jazz (all), roots rock, nashville sound, americana, new age
Influences:
Pat Metheny Group, Yes, Jean-Luc Ponty, Weather Report, Kitaro, David Arkenstone, Tangerine Dream, Neil Young, Frank Zappa & the Mothers of Invention, Phish

I've performed and recorded original violin parts for many years with rock, country-rock, and Americana folk groups. In the last year I've recorded two "on-line" albums and published on Jamendo. My goal is to find on-line collaboration to allow me to add my original composition violin tracks to other music. My ability to improvise and produce a rapid prototype for almost any style or genre, will allow others to get professional violin on their tracks in short-order. The sound recording can range from pure acoustic violin, to radical electric-violin with midi-embellishment.

Working With Others

How I Work:

I am open for almost any type of collaboration. I want to share my vision of what can be done to bring violin into the 21st century and break free from perceived limitations. I want to help bring out new fusion styles. I also want to support others who wish to preserve the existing genres and styles with the addition of the best violin tracks possible. Like everyone, I would like to get paid, but I am willing to invest my time and talents to further a great artistic vision or multimedia innovation.

Experience:

I've played violin in performing groups since 1977 in folk, jazz, country, rock, new-age, and classical styles. I have lived and performed with groups in San Antonio, Seattle, and Salt Lake City. I have recorded violin on several albums of local artists in Utah, and performed with these same groups. My work as a network engineer has allowed me to insert technology into my music, and I have experimented extensively with the "electric-violin" sound and various recording techniques.

Equipment:

I record my original compositions using an Apple iMAC, Yamaha keyboard, and various USB data input devices. I use a Yamaha electric-violin, along with my acoustic violin that is has a bridge-pick-up. I use DigiTech RP-series pedals for pre-amp and effects processing.
