Why this name?
The name Luvli was given to me by my brother who's currently fighting the way in Iraq. My brother and I were sitting in a fast food place and we were trying to think of a stage name for me. Well my thing was whenever I thought something was cool I would say "That's Luvli" So as we were sitting in the food place a nice ride passed by I said, "that's Luvli," and he goes, "that's it." The Joy part is part of my first name so I just added it at the end of Luvli.

Do you play live?
Yes
I've performed at Universities, Church, Nightclubs, Parties, etc.

How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry?
It gives independent artists a better chance of being heard. When my brother and I did our first album we didn't have access to the internet which didn't help us get the word out about our album. So now it's so much easier finding resources to present your music to the world.

Would you sign a record contract with a major label?
Yes

Band History:
I've been singing for a long long time. One of my first performances happened when I was a little girl at Church. I volunteered to sing Jesus Loves Me, the Whitney Houston version. I was so touched by the Spirit and the words of the song I forget that I was nervous. Then after that I started performing in talent shows everywhere I could. I can remember the first song I sung at the talent show, it was a Mariah Carey song called Vanishing. I was so nervous being in a talent show for the first time but I later grew very comfortable with it. My first female singing group I started was when I was in elementary school. The band was called Black Lace. It was made up of three girls, Kim, Lisa, and myself. We would practice in the basement for hours just harmonizing. Then as I grew up and went to high school I had formed another group called "Are You Envious." That's when I ran into a producer my last year of high school named Shawen Fuller. He later passed away at age 25. But he inspired me to keep going for it and to use my voice and my writing ability to further my career in the music business. Now I work with my brother and a couple of talented producers. I'm working on my current album called "Luvli Expressions" which should be out sometime next year. This album is really about my perception of life. Where I've been on and where I plan on going. A lot of my music is about love, and the source of that love comes from God for me. He has inspired me with his love, grace and patience. He continues to inspire me to make songs about his love and the love I have for others. He's given me the gift to inspire and uplift and that's what I plan on doing with my music. So keep a look out for my music. It's sure to inspire you.

Your influences?
Prince is a major influence on my music and well as artists like Brandy, Janet Jackson, Luther, Kenny G, Lauryn Hill, Anita Baker, Stephanie Mills, and of course my great Aunt Minnie Rippleton.
I would say my style is more smooth, sensual, with a little pop feel to it

Favorite spot?
I fell in love with Germany. So peaceful there

The Treblemaka wrote on April 7, 2009:

Sure, I would love to work with you. Your voice seems to suit synthisizers but I think I work well with pianos and guitars. I will develop some stuff and wither send it to you or open a session. Thank you for the compliments.
