Bio
In college Dan and I started a non-profit label for student musicians called Veritas Records - with the expert guidance of our future business partner Mantis Evar. Although I used to play the piano, my brother got all the real musical talent in the family (he plays the sax, among other things) - so this was the first experience that really got me interested in the professional side of music.
Working together on Veritas was how Dan, Mantis and I ended up with the ideas that eventually formed the core of Indaba Music. We looked at significant trends in the industry, particularly the spread of cheap digital production technology and digital distribution. These developments were incredibly exciting to us because they enabled musicians and music professionals to create music in new ways and get it heard by more people than ever before. We wanted to figure out a way for musicians to take advantage of these trends so that they could easily work together no matter where they were. Eventually, our ideas evolved into Indaba Music. The core of that idea is what you see here, but we also plan to grow it and add functionality that we think will continue making things easier for musicians, music professionals, and listeners.
