About Me

Skill Level:
Professional
Craft:
producer, blogger, executive producer
Instruments:
cowbell, triangle, shofar, kazoo
Genres:
rock, jazz, electronic, hip hop

In college Dan and I started a non-profit label for student musicians called Veritas Records. Although I used to play the piano, my brother got all the real musical talent in the family (he plays the sax, among other things) - so this was the first experience that really got me interested in the professional side of music.

Working together on Veritas was how Dan and I ended up with the ideas that eventually formed the core of Indaba Music. We looked at significant trends in the industry, particularly the spread of cheap digital production technology and digital distribution. These developments were incredibly exciting to us because they enabled musicians and music professionals to create music in new ways and get it heard by more people than ever before. We wanted to figure out a way for musicians to take advantage of these trends so that they could easily work together no matter where they were. Eventually, our ideas evolved into Indaba Music. The core of that idea is what you see here, but we also plan to grow it and add functionality that we think will continue making things easier for musicians, music professionals, and listeners.

Currently I'm here in New York working with the rest of the Indaba Music team and enjoying the city...

Mark Brabson wrote on February 29, 2008:

Hey Hey HEY! Now this is what I call AWESOME! matt, you are definitely da MAN! I'm running titles through my once-nimble brain - "Matt's The Cat" or "Matt The Man" or "Matt's The Man" or "Matt The Cat-Man" - ooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! :-D Thanks so much! I hope I didn't overload you guys with my latest posts in the "Feedback and Requests" forum, did I? I was actually trying to hold back a flood of ideas - looking back on it though it appears just a bit ..... wordy.......LOL I really am sorry about that - I've had all these ideas building up for the better part of a year now.....I am so glad I found you guys!!!!!!!!! Mark

Oh my. I suppose if you really want this to go somewhere, you would first have to define whether or not God himself is using his Godly Powers to Nuke the Burrito or is he using a normal Household Microwave. He could however create a Burrito so hot from out of thin air that he couldn't eat. I mean, he IS God after all, right? OMG, my head hurts....shutting down all brainwaves....thanks.....Matt...

Robert Coleman wrote on February 11, 2008:

Hey Matt, thanks for your words of encouragement on my sessions. Didn't realize you were one of the creators of the site. I keep telling fellow music enthusiasts at my work to jump on board because I love the concept you and Dan have here, almost like a home away from home. I'll keep you updated, locked, and loaded. Rob

If there is anything that I like as much as music, it is humor. I find that a lot of the musicians that I have met over my life, have also been very funny people. I like to cut up incessantly. Nowadays, I make it a point to spend a couple of hours every day laughing, just like taking my vitamins! I won't let anyone interrupt me with anything trivial at my "happy" hours, either. I find one TV show so funny, that it wears me out if I watch more than two episodes at a time and that's SCRUBS! Catch ya later Bambi :o)
