About Me

Skill Level:
Semi-Pro
Craft:
mixing engineer, producer
Genres:
electronic, experimental, Hip-Hop, dance, electroacoustic, film score, Pop
Influences:
Just Blaze, George Martin, Firesign Theatre, The National Lampoon Radio Hour, Boards of Canada, David Holmes, Roger Troutman, Daft Punk, Air, Ratatat, Madlib, J Dilla, Rza, Pete Rock, Earthtone III, DJ Premier, Timbaland, DJ Quik, Kanye West, Dr. Dre, Ween, Dust Brothers, Erick Sermon, Puff Daddy

I produce electronic & hip-hop influenced beats, grooves, & occasionally full-fledged songs. I've worked with various bands and comedians, but feel most at home making original compositions in the studio or remixing collaborative electronic work. A couple pieces of my music have been featured in independent films, and I'd love to start doing more film and scoring work. I have no interest in performing live – I'm a studio geek and am obsessed with how RECORDS are made. “Grandmaster Laird” is the name I've recently resumed using for my music/production work - it's based on an old inside joke from my high-school days. I also draw comics and occasionally create silly videos, all of which can be found on my personal website, www.mattmacfarlane.com.

tanx brah. I'd love to hear you do the ole mash -n- chop to some FD songs. There's 6 CDs worth of them. They could use some borderline psychosis.

Hello Matt,
"La La La" is really great. I never would have imagined putting music to the voice (Text to Voice processor) of Professor Stephen Hawking and other. Great work! Great song.
