I am a middle school music teacher who is passionate about using technology and new media to teach kids. I blog about this at http://www.musicisnotforinsects.com
Ken, I must admit I am not familiar with Steve Reich but I do like your submission to the contest. I hope your students appreciate have a teacher who encourages creativity and expression. What a gift. What school do you teach at? I live in Edmonds. By the way, take a listen to my diddy called Dream within a dream. Blessings on you and your students.
Read your blog post. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Hope that your students have fun with the contest!
Hi Ken! I hope that your students had a lot of fun with the Yo Yo Ma contest.
We've had a lot of interest from the education community about using our site as a teaching tool and I'd love to hear about your own experience... would you mind chatting at some point?
And how cool would it be for Yo-Yo Ma to do a recording with your students!!!
Ken it's been my experience that even one vote can make a big difference. If you encourage your kids to vote for each other it would really boost them in the rankings! Also, since school is back in session you could have faculty and their friends and family vote for them as well. I think your kids should learn to promote themselves at an early age. There is more to the music game than just being able to play you know?
Hi Ken. I think what you're doing with your kids is wonderful. Keep it up man!
Sounds great. I'll connect with Chris, but feel free to reach out if there's anything else we can do.
Ken, I agree with Noelle: great idea. Glad to have you and your students in the Indaba community!
Ken - just wanted to give you a shout-out for the Yo-Yo Ma submissions by your class... what a wonderful, wonderful way to get your students involved in music creation. Must say, I'm blown away by a few of the submissions. Keep doing, what you're doing!
