Nate Mars began his music career in 1996, playing the bass guitar for hardcore bands in upstate New York. It was in the late 90's when Roni Size released New Forms that Nate was completely blown away with what was possible in music production. He soon started producing drum and bass and crafted a sound that evolved into his signature dubstep sound.
Nate’s first foray into the art of electronic music production came in the way of his drum n’ bass track “Concentric Circles” which was released on a compilation entitled The Deprogramming Sequence (Liberation Systems.) This compilation also includes the work of accomplished NYC-based artists DJ Spooky and DJ Wally. A producer with an eclectic palate, Nate’s next release came under the guise of “The New Yorker” and was created with a mind toward classic Acid House. An EP release would ensue and remixes followed including a dancefloor smash from Nettwerk recording artist Morgan Page.
Nate spent several months in 2008 with a team of talented producers and engineers working on the debut CD release from recording artist Kristine Elezaj. Taking an Assistant Engineer role on the project Nate worked side by side with Poet from The Black Eyed Peas, Epic and Kraig Tyler (Crazytown), J. Marty and Bruce Howell (music and audio for the show South Park.) Nate has also spent a great deal of time working with Benny Blanco (Bangers & Cash, Spankrock) on the debut release from London-based artist Neon Hitch.
Nate Mars recently put the final additions on his debut dubstep album that is currently being shopped to labels. The album features collaborations with a diverse range of artists including Juakali (Dub War Resident MC), Jahdan (Noble Society), Virus Syndicate (Planet-Mu) and Sissy (Global Underground). The album’s first single - "Above & Beyond dem" feat. Jahdan - was licensed by UK dance music label Fabric for inclusion in Freq Nasty's Fabriclive 42 mixed compilation out November ‘08. Now a real force on the global dubstep scene, Nate’s music is in regular rotation with BBC Radio One DJs Mary Anne Hobbs and Annie Mac. The future looks bright for Nate Mars and he continues to tackle multiple musical worlds while increasing the output of his own Complex Dubz label .
