SirCharles

I like to get my hands dirty; digitally speaking!
Wanting more and more to create a finished sound; not having all the persons readily available to chip in has sent me on a life long journey of mastering those roles myself. I’ve worked countless hours to take my skills from beat maker to producer and from lyricist to song writer. I wanted to know how the piano and the guitar and the bass and horns should sound in a production so I bought and listened to as much good musicianship as I could. I listened to the intricacies of each instrument in the mix to learn and understand its role in the ensemble.
I’ve journeyed backward from Hip Hop through Disco, onto Soul, Funk, Jazz, Rock’N Roll, and Gospel to establish the sound that Octiv8 Music has become!
Octiv8 Music is an outlet, it’s the playground for all that I have learned and the sandbox for all that I express! Octiv8 Music is a vehicle for uplifting, encouraging and entertaining people through Christ-centric music.

Family, Friends and Love!
Church, radio and house parties with my father behind the 1s and 2s are all vivid memories of growing up in Detroit. However it wasn’t until I began to foster a more personal relationship with God that I developed a deeper interest in music.
This walk has been a continuous growth and sharpening experience. I have gained much and have much to gain and by the grace of God I am here to share.
Of all the music I listen to, the conversation and encouragement of friends has been a stronger influence on my musical direction. One thing that definitely holds true is that music is for people! If it’s not connecting with people then it’s merely a sounding brass or a noisy cymbal. I think the Black Eyed Peas put it best “Where is the Love?”

Charles checkin on that Mariah RMX right now. nice beat. Vocals should be up way more in the mix. chords have a bit of distortion, turn those down a bit. that will help. I like the groove. It works. I can imagine this in a lounge club. Love it when you spice up the attention around 1:45 in the mix. Just double check on the mixdown and there ya go. Check mine too. All the best.
