Born in Nottingham, England to a musical Father. Played music professionally before moving to the US in 1989. Played in a trio on Hampton Beach, NH. I Had an original band there called "Too Cool For HUmans" it was founded with my best friend from England with whom I travelled to the US.

In 1995 I moved from NH, to CA. I Spent a number of years working for a software company called Emagic. They made software called "Logic", and "Logic Audio". It was ironic, because back in the UK, I used to use Atari software called "Creator", and "Notator", by CLab's. Logic Audio was written by the same people. I also played out live every week with various musicians around the Sacramento area. Mostly playing drums, and singing.

I have many recording that stem from over the years, songs that I've either written, produced, mixed, or had something to do with in one way or another. Some are just in demo form, some finished, some not, but they reflect the period that they were recorded in, the equipment I had at the time, the way I was feeling, etc..

I've always had an obsession with computers and music. Back on the East Coast, I did various recording sessions at various colleges in Boston, showing the latest in Computer recording software. At that time it was a Mac SE30, running DIgidesign Sound Tools, and Opcode Studiovision. Before that It was a Mac Plus with Performer and a Jam Box... Before that the Atari 1040ST running either Notator SL, or Pro24. All great programs of their time..

Since then, I've been involved mostly with Pro Tools, and Logic Pro, Ableton Live, and Reason. I'm a Mac user and therefore a little less knowledgeable on PC based programs such as Fruity Loops, or Sonar. Give me 20 minutes on them and I'll be kicking your ass ;-)

I will continue updating.

Favorite Lyric:

I got it bad, you don't know how bad I got it
You got it easy, you don't know when you've got it good
The heat is stifling, burning me up from the inside
The sweat is coming from each and every pore
I don't wanna be here no more

Working With Others

How I Work:

I often look for people who have something special. For singers that usually means tone and soul, not necessary technical ability. For songwriters, usually their musical mind will let me know how to work and move forward with them.

I don't like time wasters. Other than that, I'm open to anything.

Experience:

I have a wide experience that ranges from Production, to Engineering, Arranging, Composing, and playing. I'm an accomplished drummer, and bass player.

I'm an expert when it comes to music and computers. I've been in the industry for sometime, and have experience with types of music software.

I designed a console called the Mackie Control that was released years ago. It's the best selling control surface of all time, and I'm quite proud of that fact... :-)

Equipment:

Pro Tools HD - Logic Pro 8.0 - Variety of outboard gear. PMC Reference Monitors.

Hi Phil,
Congratulations on the judges pick!
I had a heavy " I've-seen-that-face-before" kinda feeling when I checked out your version.
Just wanted to say that I didn't miss a single Pro Tools Accelerated Video. Very nice, mate.
Cheers

Anytime a new version comes out, I go right to your videos to learn how to use it. I wouldn't know what to do without them. My favorite video: Playlist View. Brilliant.
