Radiohead "Reckoner" Remix

About Me

Skill Level:
Professional
Craft:
mixing engineer, producer, remixer, instrument builder
Instruments:
synthesizer, drum machine
Genres:
ambient techno, rock and roll, electronica, tech house, electro, alternative rock, alternative pop, electroacoustic, hip hop

ReRunner is an electronica duo (Stian Rasmussen and Kevin Shea Adams) whose style draws upon everything from IDM to noise, electro-pop and hip-hop. Programming, synthesis and editing chops are treated with rock style production to create dense and intricate tracks that thrive on walking the line between pop and noise. Created with analog synthesizers and custom software built in Max/MSP and SuperCollider, ReRunner does post-production in pre-production, often building entire tracks only to deconstruct them into their final shapes.

ReRunner have just released a full length CD "Metropical" and will have an iTunes exclusive track on the upcoming Au Revoir Simone album "Reverse Migration" (out Nov. 11th). "Metropical", composed entirely during the month of February as part of the make-an-album-in-a-month RPM Challenge, is a 13 track collage of noise-pop and electronica, a white-collar vacation through a stormy tropical daydream. ReRunner's reworking of Au Revoir Simone's track "The Way to There" keeps with their redefinition of the remix - a complete reconstruction of the original ballad. Their contribution to Radiohead's remix contest for the track "Reckoner" is currently climbing towards the top, with a free mp3 download just made available at rerunnermusic.com.

I gave both of the songs posted above "5" Stars. Those are great tracks you got there, and your work is indeed professional.

here you go, http://www.onesevensevensix.com/amplive/ he's the producer for Zion I, if you don't listen to them already, you should check them out, after listening to your tracks, I would guess they'd be up your alley, semi-futuristic hip-hop type stuff. About half the tracks on his remix ep I'm not a huge fan of but the other half is absolutely incredible stuff.

Mark Nygren wrote on November 17, 2008:

hey, just listened to your radiohead remix, sounding good. I assume you've heard Amplive's version of the album? It's free for download if you haven't, his remix of Videotape, Weird Fishes, and Reckoner are really good if you want to check it out.

if it wasnt such a dodgy voting system yours wud def be in the top 10.

Mark Nygren wrote on November 14, 2008:

thanks, I originally mixed the vocals too loud and then I overcompensated, oh well, It's too late now. Anyways, yours is definitely one of the more original mixes, I was starting to get sick of all the mixes that just looped the same beat without any changes for 4 minutes. I also like your fade-out with the phaser, it's sweet. I just bumped you from 59 to 57th

Love the remix you've achieved here. Especially the cross ethnic tech feel to the song. And the ambiant instruments sit nicely in the track with good upfront vocals. I really like the organ instrument that was a real nice touch. You obviously now your stuff and look forward to listening to your future productions. This remix has my vote. It's the most professional production i've heard so far on indabamusic. Nice one, my friends will love this track.......speak soon and good luck for the contest.......Infinigy/Lee Baker

Thanks for the feedback man, I really appreciate it. I agree with you on the drums & mastering fully. That's one thing I really need to improve on - my mixing - I'm definitely going to give your suggestions a go, as I'm still green on that side of things. I won't be as cautious on my next mix and your advice is just what I needed! :)

I'm gonna add you as a contact, if that's cool, as I'm really interested in what you do next.

Thanks again and good luck.

Cheers

Benz

Hi guys,

Really like many elements of your remix. The sounds you have are amazing. For example, I love the way it just drops to a 4 on the floor for the chorus. There's so many clever things going on, I'm still having repeat listens to work it all out. The *only* thing I don't like is the Horn patch sound you used at the begging of the 1st verse... the chords are wicked, just don't like horns unless they're real. And I think the different drum sounds\breaks for 1st vs 2nd verse etc aren't both needed... they both sound great, just a bit too much variation IMO.

Anyway, if you get a chance to have a listen to our remix that would be appreciated. Not sure if it's your thing but feedback\constructive criticism would be welcome.

Cheers and good luck.
