The sounds and music of cultures and environments intrigue me. I take an audio recorder with me everywhere I go (on the subway in NYC, to the presidential inauguration in Ghana...). Right now I'm listening mostly to african pop (especially that featuring guitar) and american folk, with some Tom Waits, Feist and Sonic Youth albums sliding in here and there. I play classical piano and have been fumbling around on the guitar for the past year for the sake of writing songs and playing my favorite folk tunes. While I play mostly acoustic music, I have obsessions that vary across the board with my heros ranging from the carter family gals to the singer from The Blow. Deep down, I really just want to be making dance hits.
