Michael Schrattbauer

It all began one foggy afternoon in a little village south of Linz, Austria, as a faint cry broke the dusky silence... Michael was born! ....Oh, ok, lets skip that. Fast Forward:

When he was six years old, his parents bought him a strange little, hollow piece of wood with four strings made out of viscera, which came from animals (At least he always hoped they came from animals - since he was not a vegetarian). Michael knew this was no ordinary piece of wood. Instinctively he set out in search of the man who could teach him the secrets of this strange new toy. His journey let him to the local music school.

After years of studying, Michael joined groups of other people who were playing these same wooden things at the same place and at the same time. To his surprise there were also people with strange shaped metal-like gadgetry. But everything sounded cool, so Michael lost his apprehension.

One day, bored from hearing and playing always the same kind of noise, he thought that he should try to write down noise which fit his own ideas. However, to put these ideas into practice was not as easy as he thought. Having learned to read at a young age, Michael found some help in many, many books.

Years passed, and one day Michael met a nice man named David Blumberg (Academy award winner together with Herbie Hancock 1987) who told Michael of a special book. David soon became Michael’s friend and tried to feed his brain with knowledge about different kinds of noise and how to create it.

Suddenly Michael heard a strange ringing noise.. it was his alarm. He quickly sprung to his feet from his couch where he had been napping, grabbed his dancing shoes and took off. You see, in real life Michael is a professional award winning ballroom dancer and he must not be late for competition!
