Pulling influences from the likes of Ben Folds, Fiona Apple and Tori Amos, piano player/singer songwriter and YAMAHA ARTIST SHANNON COREY truly reflects a beautiful new vibe of sensuous class. Originally from Providence, RI, Shannon's infectious pop-rock-classical sound has been heard regularly around New York City's famed venues such as The Knitting Factory, The Bitter End, and the now immortalized CBGB's. Having received the praises of fellow artists and critics alike, Shannon was named Keyboard Magazine's Unsigned Artist of the Month, High Times Magazine's Unsigned Artist of the Week and CD Reviews by You Pop Featured Artist, gained acceptance into the Starbucks Music Makers Semi-Finals, and was recently featured on an episode of MTV's The Real World: Cancun.

Through her carefully layered and delicately executed stylings, the music of her 2007 debut album unsaid, produced by Charles Newman of Mother West Records (The Magnetic Fields), tells the universal story of a young woman coming into her own, but in a way only Shannon Corey's mesmerizing and haunting voice can. A classically trained pianist with skills akin to the world's best, her captivating melodies are enhanced by the rich and vibrant rhythmic accompaniment of bass, drums, electric guitar, cello, viola and violin, all contributing to her unique sound.

Her new EP Overdue was released in September of 2009 and was produced by Benny Grotto of Mad Oak Studios in Boston (The Dresden Dolls, Aerosmith) and mastered by Jeff Lipton of Peerless Studios also in Boston (The Magnetic Fields, Soul Asylum). The five-song disc, named after one of Shannon’s newest fan favorite songs, is appropriately titled. After two years of touring, writing, and composing, since the release of her first album, Shannon displays her growth as not only a musician, but as a singer. “The new EP is much more advanced by way of writing and vocals,” explains Shannon. “My voice has turned into something very different since unsaid; more emotional and influenced by artists like Jeff Buckley and Rocco DeLuca.”

Wow, that's one a amazingly melodic voice you have. It's after listening to music such as yours that I realise I'm SUCH an amature. Dammit. But you really are brilliant. Love your voice, love the strings, love the piano....they're great songs. Where can I get your CD? I'm in Australia...any chance of finding it all the way over here?
