Born in Oberlin, Ohio during a time when music and fashion were in a state of confusion and Michael Jackson’s Thriller was a cultural upheaval, a little girl named Tara was being introduced to music. As a young girl Tara grew up singing in the church along side her mother and grandmother. She also discovered the piano and guitar, which would later become instrumental in her musical career. Throughout her young life she listened to a variety of music ranging from the soulful Stevie Wonder to folk icon James Taylor. Tara has worked with multi-platinum recording artists Juvenile, Young Buck and the late Soulja Slim, for whom she sang background vocals on their 2003 UTP Compilation album. She has also collaborated with Houston-based hip-hop duo Lower Level on their 2006 Mixtape album. Tara has performed in various cities including her hometown Cleveland, Ohio as well as Houston, Texas. She currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Tara has also co-starred in a Super Bowl XXXVIII commercial that aired on BET and ESPN. Tara has written, arranged, and produced all of her songs with the help of the impeccable Houston-based production team MoonRock Productions. Tara’s music is revolutionary in that it is urban alternative infused with soul, classical, and hip-hop. As a songwriter, she has an amazing ability to seize moments in life to make songs that will last a lifetime. Tara is truly a singer, songwriter, composer and musician. - Favorite Lyric:
You see I loved hard one but the love wasn't returned. I found out the man I'd die for, he wasn't even concerned. At time I learned, he tried to burn me like a perm. Though my eyes saw the deception my heart wouldn't let me learn from - um, some dumb woman was I. And every time he'd lie, he would cry and inside I'd die. My heart must've died a thousand deaths, compared myself to Toni Braxton thought I'd never catch my breath. Nothing left. He stole the heart beating from my chest. I tried to call the cops, that type of thief they can't arrest. Pain suppress, would lead to cardiac arrest. Diamonds deserved, diamonds - but he convinced me I was worthless. When my peoples' would protest, I told them "mind they business, cause my shit was complex - more than just the sex." I was blessed but couldn't feel like when I caressed - I spent nights clutching my breasts, overwhelmed by God's test - I was God's best - contemplating death to the Gillette. BUT NO MAN IS EVER WORTH THE PARADISE MANIFEST - Lauryn Hill, "Manifest"
