The Progressions are a new production duo, stationed in Riverside, CA. Comprised of David Sides and Porter, The Progressions was established in May of 2008. Their music incorporates various elements from different genres of music ranging from classical to hip hop. They produce music for Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Soul, Rock, & Trance.

Joseph Patterson, better known as Porter, was born in San Diego and spent half of his life living in Southeast San Diego before moving to Temecula at the age of 12. Growing up, he was mostly involved in sports. It wasn’t until after he graduated from high school that he found his love for music. In 2002 after being inspired by the Nellyville concert, which featured Fabolous, Cash Money, and Nelly & the St. Lunatics, Porter began rapping amongst his peers. Later he moved to Riverside where he joined a local Hip Hop group called Dubb’N’It. Porter began to not only rap for them, but also found himself producing some of their material. After the members of the group went their separate ways, he began to focus mostly on making beats, while also learning how to become an audio engineer at a local community college. Later Porter teamed up with a fellow musician, David Sides, to form The Progressions.

David Sides, born in Oxnard, grew up in a musical family. His father played the guitar, Mother was a singer, sister played the violin, and his brothers played the guitar and drums. David started playing piano in 1994 after being inspired by the soundtrack to the movie The Lion King. He played piano from time to time up until high school when he completely took a break from the piano and focused most of his time on his grades and basketball. After graduating from high school, he moved to Riverside in the Fall of 2002 and years later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from UC Riverside. After graduating, he began posting videos of his piano renditions to current popular music on youtube. Through the process, he met Porter, who then introduced him to the producing aspect of music. David’s love for making music, along with this newfound fundamental created his desire to become a producer. Within a few short months, David found himself teaming up with Porter to form The Progressions.

I am so proud of you guys, I knew from the first moment I heard the mix that you were victorious. Not many people analyzed the flow of Mariah's music objectively and went WAY out of bounds, the point here was to keep it simple yet creative with a good mix, and you guys did it clearly. Here's to the top of the charts....see u there...congratulations and keep in touch.
