Eccentricity and wild creative slashes are usually a preserve of the anarchic rock star. Not so for soulful rock chanteuse, Tiffany Randol: as a three year-old this already ascendant artist was waging war as a one-kid, anti-social crime wave. Bedroom walls were daubed in paint; Motown 45s were blasted from a Fisher Price record player in the early hours of the morning.

Later, trips to a child shrink proved unrewarding. Prescriptions included “plastic sheets on the walls and ear plugs” as an answer to her parent’s sleepless nights and cleaning bills. Not that it helped. As Randol grew older, there were more noisy experiments as a huge record collection swelled with the likes of Elvis Presley, Kate Bush, Guns N'Roses, Billie Holiday, The Beatles, Billy Idol, Johnny Cash and Prince.

This consumption was not unrewarding, however. Fast forward 20 plus years in New York City, and Randol’s flourishing creativity looms large. Now the singer-songwriter has made a habit of writing songs littered with adventurous pop hooks and drive time lyricism.

Subsequently, acclaim has followed fast - Randol first made strides as the vampish front woman with riotous rock five piece, Valeze. Meanwhile, her siren-like vocals bolstered live shows with a raft of legends, including Ronnie Spector, Phillip Glass, John Flansbergh, and Ween.

Today though, she’s making waves on her lonesome. A self-produced, self-recorded album is set for a 2008 release and promises much. Highlight single and one part of a five track EP, Kiss Me Kiss Me, is a breathlessly intimate sketch on unconditional love that's drawn comparisons to Kate Bush and the sun-drenched harmonies of Lennon and McCartney. B-sides Stuck In His Way and Half A Second swoon with intimacy and wide-eyed innocence, hinting at a work rate to match her creativity.

But that’s just the half of it. Randol's performed on FOX Good Day NY and Fearless Music TV on multiple occasions. Other recent accomplishments include recognition as a new up and coming writer for '07 from The Songwriters Hall of Fame, the licensing of "Me and You" for the feature film "Fat Girls", and the award of 'Best Film Score' at the Long Island Film Festival for "Meg's Song," an independent feature starring Stella Keitel.

Clearly, Tiffany Randol’s effervescent career is brimming with potential. Keep pace – 2008 could be her major stride towards The Big Time. MATT ALLEN, MOJO

Working With Others

How I Work:

Only interested in paid studio work and live shows. i have a studio that i work out of and can record vocals here or am willing to travel if expenses are covered. love writing with people as well. schedule is flexible b/c i freelance.

Experience:

Years of studio and live experience

studio work is everything from most recently producing, engineering and performing my solo record, to demos for multiple major producers and songwriters, to commercials, to recently scoring "Meg's Song", an independent feature starring Stella Keitel (daughter of Harvey Keitel).

Most recently, Tiff was acknowledged by The Songwriters Hall of Fame as a new up and coming writer for '07, licensed her song "Me and You" to MTV, and featured in Zoo Magazine's June Music Issue.

Other recording credits include various commercial jingles, collaborations with New York DJ Rob Swift, and guest vocals on several European dance tracks. Tiffany has had the opportunity to perform live with many of her heroes, including Jimmy Webb, R&B legend Ronnie Spector, Michael Cerveris, Philip Glass, Nada Surf singer Mathew Caws, Ween, and They Might Be Giants' John Flansbergh.

Hey Tiff,

Love the vocals. You remind me of Macy Gray a little. I'm working on a project out of town presently, but I would be interested in doing some things through indaba with you shortly. Until then, you keep bangin'!
