After 8 months of construction and over 2 months of interior acoustic design I've been slowly integrating artist into the new "Doghouse Studio". This blog follows up to my previous post of 10x12 studio construction. I greatly appreciate everyone's session request and invites. I apolgize for my slowness to respond as I"ve been quite busy of course with my studio deployment, weekend gigs and managing a myspace account. Now that my studio is complete with some basic gear in place I can focus on one of my goals on Indaba and that's to master final mixes. I would appreciate anyone's invite to do so.

I've also been working with several acoustic artist locally and has consumed a great deal of my time. Doghouse studio is focused on singer song writer recordings and mastering.

I've completed the vinyl siding and have began running electrical. I can taste victory, but probably not for another month. I"ve been saving equipment in the closet and creating a myspace page that will be dedicated to my studio.

Ok, making a little progress. Got shingles on and soon as the Christmas holidays are near I'll be out making some progress (weather permitting).

I'm a little behind on my pics and blogging. The shed partion of my home studio is near complete and I'll post some pics soon. I'm getting excited. Up next shingles and then prep for vinyl siding. Trying to finish the outside before it turns really cold. Once the outside is completely covered, I should be able to complete the inside within a weeks time working after hours into the night. My goal is to complete the entire project during my vacation time in January. My home studio will most likely start with a laptop, usb mobile pre and playback monitors. No need to shop for computer hardware now, who knows what will be hot by January.

I"ve added some more photos to the album showing the beginning of the buildout for my extension(shed). The slab will be pored in the upcoming weeks. The shed partion of the studio will need to be completed first so I can move all of my tools, lawn care, etc.. from the patio. But the entire building will have vinyl siding applied at one time. Once the extension has shingles and black paper on the outside then I'll move everything back in. Shortly after that shingles and vinyl siding will began on the studio.

Update from my previous post. We only had enough time this weekend to created the form for the slab. Typical weather in South Louisiana, beautiful and dry one day, pouring down the next.

Back by popular demand, pics of my studio in progress. We missed the intial pics for the flooring but picked up at the framing. The last two pics were taken this evening. You will notice as you watch the slide show that the small 8x10 shed was torn down and will be rebuilt slanted downward from the studio. The piece of plywood in the doorway is to keep our backyard dog from entering and tracking mud or grass. We will continue on the shed now so I can stow all of my tools back and lawnmowers. It was planned this way. We are going to pour a slab this weekend, and finish the other side of the studio.

Once the slab is complete, we will frame up the shed, outside plywood, roof, and black paper. The shed will not take near as long. We will then attatch both doors, run electrical and then vinyl siding, shingles. Afterwards we'll get to the fun stuff, flooring, ceiling tiles, thinking about where to place my desk, etc.... I'm getting excited but impatient.

Well, so much for checking my messages from my office. Our IT department filter content and indaba must be categorized as social networking or personals. That's ok, Im in the ISP group and have a seperate DSL connection in my office.
