You know, Sis, I really believe you can do no wrong. :-D
If you feel it, then I know it will not only work but it will probably blow me away!
LET'S GO FOR IT!

mark - it's coming together!!!

do you want another voice for the 3rd pattern i do?
i sing a real high and real low - want a middle filler vox for just that part?

Hi Anne,
I am still pulling out guitar solos parts to make them flow better around you - then I will perform some secret Black Magic to make everything go together (I hope) and you will be amazed. Or at least relieved. :-}

Oh, Anne,

I finally got a chance to sit down and do nothing else besides listen to your 2nd take and first let me say that you're right - I like it better than the first, but only a little, really. It is definitely more polished, more deliberate, less tentative. I couldn't be any happier than I am right now to have all this wonderful material to work with.

So yeah, it's awesome. So, yeah - we're about to make some great music together, we are. This is going to be a "signature" piece for me - I'm adding it to my profile when it's done. I might not even wait that long! LOL

I'm going to work on a full mix tonight and tomorrow - see if I can get Yahn's guitars just right so I don't have to ask him for a "do-over".

I've got some Clapton on right now and I'm diggin' his bass player, who also played with Anita Baker - I think I can learn a lot from him. So don't be surprised if I start mixing in a little more blues, folks!

Ah, time for music, my oldest love - life is sooooooo good! :-D

Check back soon, folks!

Don't worry, Bam,
There's no rush to finish this - heck, there's not even a DESIRE to finish this one! ;-)

I hope people will just drop by from time to time and drop off new tracks for us to play with in our mixers.

I'm planning to use this song in my personal profile so that people get a feeling for what I do these days. Let me know if you want to do likewise - I think it's a pretty cool idea to do this on our own until the development team can get around to it (could be a long time - no response on the forums yet).

mark - how about this?
new sustained part - now a total of 3, but you can mix & match according to whim.
i'll work on getting that part from the older snippet to you as well.

almost done!!

ANNE & MARTY wrote on April 24, 2008 :
ah, yes, the old DAAAAAAAAAAY, DOT DOT DU WAY.
you shall have it!
thanks for clarifying.

Mark Brabson wrote on April 23, 2008 :
Hi Anne,
Thanks! :-)
Now then - "counterpoint" is just how I heard your voices ping-ponging back and forth off each other. Point, counterpoint, tick, tock, back and forth - I'm sure there's a better word but.....????HELP!!!

OK, so here's the real scoop. Where you are dropping out now to let me play that synchopated thing-a-ma-jobber, I would *really* like to hear would be those old "whole note" harmonies you laid out before (where you're holding a single note for whole measures) - I'm uploading a snippet to refresh your memory) I think those would fit perfectly.to sort of "ground" the flightiness of my part. Then at the end, I'd like to hear you come back with these these new melodic harmonies again.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :-)

ANNE & MARTY wrote on April 23, 2008 :
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU AND YOUR WIFE AND THE EARTH!!!!
i' m so glad ALL of you were born, mark!

"counterpoint" - means what? do you want a different pattern for the "back end?"
remember - if you can THINK it, i can sing it.
just tell me where, when, and how, boss.

anne

Mark Brabson wrote on April 23, 2008 :
Hey Hey HEY!

When the cat's away, as they say, just look at who comes out to play! :-D

The only thing I can say is I think we need a little more of your counterpoint on the back end. After a few measures without you in there it sounds "naked" (I just can't think of a better word). After four measures of riffing I hoped to hear you easing back in, but you didn't so I was sad. :( .

I know everything will change as soon as we add in other pieces to the mix, but we can drop you out (a teeny, tiny bit) in the mix if need be.

What do you think? I probably should have used the occasion of my BIRTHDAY yesterday (my 48th - woo-hoo!) to coerce you into doing just a little bit more - maybe one day I'll get the hang of that ("winning friends and influencing people")....LOL

Great chops, as usual, Anne - I can't wait to hear/make a fuller mix!

Mark

ANNE & MARTY wrote on April 20, 2008 :
mark - i worked on this a little today.
whatchathink?
i don't know what you've got planned for other instruments and i don't wanna hog all the spotlight - i left the first and last sections open.
sadly there are still a few places where i just seem off from your bass.
ah well, that's show bizness!
feedback welcomed,
anne

Hi Anne!

I think this is a great idea! Let me not ruin it by putting in my two cents on the idea - you already know what's best. :O)

ANNE & MARTY wrote on April 18, 2008 :
hi, mark.

what do you think about leaving the first whole section as instrumental only?
i feel all hinkey jumpin in vocally right away.

lemme know - i'm standing in front of the mic - ready to SING this puppy!!
