Welcome! Third Eye Blind is asking Indaba members to inspire them and participate in the band's creative process as they complete their upcoming album, Ursa Major.

Here's the deal. As 3EB finishes laying down tracks, the band will post unmixed instrument stems for you to tweak, shape, and edit through a series of contests. They want to hear your vision for their songs. The first track, "Non-Dairy Creamer," is already available for you to work on!

Through a regular blog that chronicles their experience of creating an album, access to the unmixed stems and the dialogue among Indaba members, you'll have the chance to watch the group develop their artistic concept.

Since going independent with their own label, 3EB has a renewed sense of freedom and purpose - including a strong desire to interact directly with their audience in innovative ways. Here are some of the things you can do to participate in 3EB's new sound:

  • Mix, remix, or add your own part to their new songs
  • Get to know the band through pictures and videos of them in the studio
  • Read and respond to blogs from band members

Wow.  I am very impressed with both the amount of mixes posted and the level of creativity involved.  I was hoping for mixes that would run the gamut  from pro mixes of the stems to complete remixes into different genres of music.  These exceeded my expectations.   I will expound on my motivations behind my playing on this song for those who are interested  (Skip to the last paragraph if you only want to find out whose remixes I liked best).   This song is obviously a political statement of SJ's.  I approached the drums thinking about, "what would M...

It's coming...

Sitting above the studio hammering away at my daily to do's I hear through the floor the familiar wailing of one Tony Fredianelli.  That man was made to play.  The way he makes that guitar sing, even through the floor, makes the hair on my arms stand up.  The heart in these songs are undoubtedly on the sleeves of these men.  The tears of their past, the desires of their future.  It's more than blood and sweat down there.  It is truth.  The truth that so many people are too scared to speak about.  Each song breathes life into love, loss, politics, and Ste...

You people are crushing it! You talented bastards you. Here it is, the first day of fall the air has bow ties on it. It's a champagne color. It puts me in a good mood and so do these mixes. Having fans mix songs before they're put out is a new idea (alas, not really my idea) and now it turns out to be a great idea. You have, in fact, inspired me. I talked to Brad and I know one of these mixes is gonna start the show next year and Brad and I are planning on playing marching drums together to start the show. Non-Dairy Creamer is about being real (as opposed to fake). More about that next blog. B...

The World of Third Eye Blind

Hey mixers! I'm Chrissy Harmas and I'll be the blogger liazon between you and the band.  I work in the management office here in Sunny San Fran and I'll be able to let you in on the great things the guys are doing. I've been listening to the mixes that have already gone up on the site and I am blown away by the talent I hear. Stephan and I sat down yesterday and there are already a few of you who have caught his ear. There have been some questions as to whether this is a 're-mixing' or a 'mixing' contest. The point of this contest is to show us your talent. Tell us what you like to hear b...

Welcome!

Hey EVERYbody! This is Brad(talent) from Third Eye Blind. I am excited to announce the mix contest for our song Non Dairy Creamer here on Indaba. I look forward to hearing your creative mixes. I will of course expect them to beat my own personal 60's garage remix of the song. Or maybe I will do an acid click hop version.....hmmmmm Have fun!
